New Orleans Tech Company Moves Into 43,000 Square Foot Old Times-Picayune Building

Computrols, which began providing first-rate professional technical service for large building automation systems in 1983, has purchased and will be moving into the former Times-Picayune building on the West Bank.

The company spent $1.4 million in March to purchase a 43,000-square-foot office and warehouse space at 2520 Belle Chasse Highway in Gretna.  The facility features 10,000 square feet of office space together with a 33,600 square foot distribution facility. The facility sits on a 2.26-acre parcel and the building was renovated in 1995.  It was most recently used as the West Bank bureau for The Times-Picayune.

Computrols designs, manufactures and services state-of-the-art building automation systems throughout the U.S. and abroad. With over 25 years in the industry, Computrols has established a solid reputation as a leader in automation systems for large facilities.  They may be the largest tech company in New Orleans that you have never heard of.

Louisiana clients include One Shell Square, the Mercedes–Benz Superdome, Harrah’s, and Children’s Hospital among many others.

Scott Holstein, the digital marketing manager for Computrols, said they were looking for a place where they could add a training area for customers, dealers and employees. “We’re also planning to use a portion of the warehouse as a production facility. We use a lot of heavy-duty machinery with many small, complex components.”

The new space provides the office and warehouse space they needed for their projected growth. Computrols currently has four jobs listed at their branch offices and are always looking for talented people to bring on board. Because their job openings and descriptions often change, they focus more on areas of experience, expertise, and talent.

Holstein says they are already looking to the future. “We recently opened a branch office at the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator and expect to see our most significant expansion in the Southern California market. We are also planning on expanding our footprint online with an increased presence on social media and with our new website set to launch in two weeks.”
